3questblog 5/4/18

1. Recently I completed a phet on states of mater
2. Recently I have learned about how particles move in different states of mattter
3. To improve my learning I will refer to the phet if needed, and I will take tonight's flipped notes witch will likely cover this topic

3quest blog 4/20/18

1. recently i have learned about thermodynamics
2. recently i have completed a test about thermodynamics
3. i will remember that heat either goes in or our, and endothermic is heat going in, where exothermic is where the heat goes out.

3quest blog 4/6/18

1. recently i have completed a lab about speeds of chemical reactions.
2. recently i have learned how particle size, temperature, concentration, and catalysts affect the rate of reactions.
3. to reinforce my learning i will refer to the charts that show the different types of chemical reactions in my notebook.

3quest blog 3/1/18

1) recently we completed a lab about finding the emiricle formula by mass of a substance .
2) recently I have learned about imperials formulas and percent mass
3) to improve my learning and understanding I will check my page 92 of notes for the steps of turning percent composition into an empirical formua.

3quest blog 2/16/18

recently we completed a lab about molar mass, and some half sheets also about molar mass.
recently i have learned what molar mass is, and also ive gotten a better understanding of conversion factors.
to improve my understanding i will look back on my notes when i need them.

3quest blog 2/2/18

we recently completed some assignments about the names and formulas of elelements.
Recently I have learned how to convert a formula into a name and vice versa.
To improve my understanding, I will keep the chart in my notebook.

3 Quest Blog 1/19/18

recently we learned about different molecular geometry. and made a foldable to remember the different shapes.
recently i have learned that electron regions affect the shape of a molecule.
next im planning to look back at the foldable when needed to remember what shape different molecules will take.

Molecular shapes blog

1. How does the number of things around a central atom effect the shape of the molecule? We need to know this because we need to know what shape a given molecule is based on it's composition.
2. During the investigation, we used a simulation that allowed us to see the effects of different things on an atom, we then charted down our findings. We did it in this way because it is impossible for the unaided human eye to see individual molecules
3. My claim is that the more things around an atom, the smaller the angles between electron pairs, evidence was a chart of different molecular shapes, and reasoning was comparing the different shapes.

3 Question Blog

We recently completed an assignment where we filled in elements on the periodic table.
recently I have learned about how elements relate to each other, so elements that havnt been discovered could have been predicted.
Im planning to continue to pay attention in class to re-enforce my learning.

3 Question October 27

Recently I have completed some packets on light produced by electrons.
recently I have learned how electrons produce light, and how electrons absorb and release energy.
to improve my understanding i will review my notes.

3 Qestion October 12

Recently I have completed a test on atomic particles.
I have recently learned the various properties of atoms, and what the  different values on the periodic table mean.
I am planning to place a periodic table in my notebook for easier reference, and improve my understanding by doing some work i may have missed.

Beanium Explore lab

What is the atomic mass of beanium? -- asked to learn how atomic mass is found.
To get the atomic mass of beanium, first each isotope was measured for its average mass, then we got its percentage, and then we did a calculation to get the atomic mass of the beanium. we did it in this way because that was the instructions of the lab.
Claim: The atomic mass of beanium is 0.4.
Evidence:

Bean Type
Number of Beans
Mass of Beans
Average Mass
Bean Percentage
Liminium
5
6.7
1.3
10%
Kidneum
15
7.7
0.5
30%
Peagen
30
6.7
0.2
60%

Reasoning:
((1.3[averagemass])(10[persentage])+(0.5[averagemass])(30[persentage])+(0.2[averagemass])(60[persentage]))/100 = 0.4

3 Question Sept 15

I recently completed most of the 'chemical vs physical properties and changes' lab.
I recently learned the difference between chemical and physical properties.
I will remember this difference by remembering that three ways to tell that a chemical change has occurred are; color change, production of gas, and two substances forming a solid.

3 Question Sept 1st

Recently I have completed a paper on significant digits.
I have learned how to add and multiply values retaining the same amount of significant digits.
I am planning on continuing to use this information when working with digits in this class, and remembering the 'North Atlantic' 'South Atlantic' model for telling witch digits are significant.
